ALTHOUGH I am half Sikh (my father is Sikh and my mother Chinese), my parents made it a point for me and my nine siblings to go to the Malacca Gurdwara (Sikh temple) every Sunday not only to pray but to do “sewa”.
Seva or sewa refers to “selfless service”, work or service performed by a Sikh without any thought of reward or personal benefit. It should be thought as a duty to society. The Sikhs believe that service rendered to humanity is indeed considered a form of worship.
