Address goalpost safety issue

AN eight-year-old child died after he was crushed by a goalpost on Wednesday. It makes me wonder if we ever learn from our mistakes. Do we really make an effort to make right what is known to be wrong?

In November 2010, another eight-year-old boy was killed when a goalpost toppled on him. At the time, it was referred to as a freak accident. This sort of incidents have occurred several times now. Are we really incapable of assessing the risk related to the equipment that our children are exposed to daily? Are the authorities totally unaware of the potential hazard of these goalposts? Many of the soccer goal frames used in the country are actually unsafe because of defect, in manufacturing and design flaws. Mobile goalposts have become very popular in this era where it allows the same pitch to be multi-purpose but this has caused many fatalities and injuries all around the world.
