Welfare department should help taska operators


I READ with disbelief the report “Government making life easier for parents” (The Star, Feb 22) where the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister cited that opening of new child nurseries had been made easy because nurseries do not need prior verification from any technical agency as long as they met the minimum standards set by JKM (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat).

I am sure that she is either not aware of the lengthy, cumbersome and at times impossible procedures set by the Welfare Department and imposed onto genuine Taska operators or her instructions and guidelines are not reaching the grassroots level.
