Serving as the ‘Men in Blue’

While the Royal Malaysia Police’s reputation at home has been tainted by several issues, the role of the force globally as peacekeepers or ‘Men in Blue’ has received great commendations from the United Nations and the host nations in which they assist.

THE Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions dates back 20 years ago when a maiden batch of 14 officers was deployed to the United Nations Angola Verification Mission II, established on May 30, 1991 to verify the arrangements agreed by the parties to monitor the Angolan police during the ceasefire, as well as to observe and verify the elections in accordance with the Peace Accords for Angola.
