Data entry system a step backwards

AUTOMATION of examination data enables school authorities to generate class marksheets, class and form subject analysis reports and individual student’s report card. A school leaver who loses his or her report card for any examination of any year can always go back to school to get a replacement since all records in soft copy are with the school.

However, with the online exam data entry system (SAPS) introduced by the Education Ministry, schools no longer have soft copies of any exam records of any year. All these will be with the ministry. The SAPS system only allows schools to access current year exam data. Furthermore, its database cannot be used by schools to extract any information required by the school authorities.
