STATISTICS from the World Bank show that at the end 2010, there were about one million Malaysians working overseas, mainly in the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and, closer to home, Brunei and Singapore.

For every ten skilled Malaysians born in Malaysia, one of them elected to leave the country. This is double the world average, and this problem needs to be addressed and solved as quickly as possible for Malaysia to achieve high income nation status by the year 2020.
