D-G, stop the lip service

I REFER to Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican’s comments on the medical curriculum in local medical universities and its apparent inadequacy to prepare graduates to function effectively (“D-G: Medical courses must be revamped” – The Star, June 8).

He also added that he was concerned with the mushrooming of medical schools in this country, suggesting that doctors and specialists involved in the supervision of these doctors after their graduation train them effectively.
