Solution needed for emergency lane problem

I REFER to “Put a stop to lane misuse” (The Star, Jan 5). I cannot help but to agree with the writer's statement.  

The authorities hardly use the emergency lane and if there is an approaching ambulance or a fire truck, road users do give way. But I certainly don’t agree that emergency lanes are only for the use of the authorities.
