MANILA: As the media have remarked, it has become a battle of surveys between Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Fernando Poe Jr, with the Pulse Asia survey putting Arroyo at two percentage points ahead of Poe late this month, while an earlier Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey taken from Jan 28 to Feb 6, and commissioned by the Poe camp, put the actor almost nine points ahead of Arroyo.

But after the banquet dinner for visiting German Bundestag vice-president Norbert Lammert, the media chatted briefly with the President’s campaign spokesman, Michael Defensor, and he told us about a new SWS survey that reduces Poe’s lead to less than five points over Arroyo.
