Thais celebrated their Constitution Day on Dec 10, marking the historic occasion in 1932 when the country shifted from being an absolute monarchy to a constitutional one.  

Unlike other holidays here, this one was rather sedate. Besides being the mid-week, it also coincided with International Human Rights Day. And it came five days after King Bhumipol Adulyadej made some sobering remarks in his annual birthday speech.
