THE editorial, “Govt must remain vigilant of shadow groups” (Sunday Star, July 27), gives a much needed boost to the potential value of sociological research in pointing to the truism that “ours is a veritable gold mine for sociological research”. 

More importantly, it goes on to emphasise that the applicability of such research findings could “help in our social development, after we come to understand much more about ourselves and our compatriots”.
