Consent is irrelevant in statutory rape

THE Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) Penang is deeply concerned that the issue of consent in cases of statutory rape is constantly raised in the courtroom.  

Section 375(f) of the Penal Code states that a man is said to have committed “rape” if he had sexual intercourse with a girl below 16 years of age, with or without her consent.
