I AGREE with the sentiments expressed by V.K. Chin in his comment “Crack down on inefficient councils” (The Star, June 9). 

Many local councils are simply out of tune with the needs of the people. These councils, as service organisations for ratepayers must be seen to function efficiently. Otherwise, they have failed in their tasks.
