TEACHERS will be happy to hear that the proposed Teachers Council will not disqualify those who are already in service. Its main function is to approve those applying to join the profession to ensure they have the necessary qualifications for the job.

This assurance was given by parliamentary secretary to the Education Ministry, Datuk Dr Mahadzir Mohd Khir, who said the main concern was to ensure teachers had some form of professional training.
