IT is interesting to see the number of graduates in various disciplines, including those majoring in engineering, accountancy and business, applying to become teachers. 

While this augurs well for the profession, some of these graduates may wish to become teachers for the wrong reasons. They may be doing so because many of them are unable to find jobs in the private sector and either opt to become teachers or face the possibility of being unemployed for a while.
