Diversity is a blessing

Heartwarming reunion: When joining his wife’s family for the round table dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve, like this mixed family in Petaling Jaya, the writer is reminded of the Quranic verse that enjoins kindness to parents.

I have always said this to my friends – we are extremely blessed to be Malaysians because we have been given the opportunity by Allah to embrace humanity.

Our country exemplifies the very verse in the Quran that speaks of the diversity of ethnicity, colours and languages as an opportunity to learn from one another and not to be suspicious of one another.
