THE Umno-led confidence vote defeat of Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was not unexpected for political analyst Hamidin Abdul Hamid.

“When we were researching the Slim by-election (in Perak last August), the signs were already there that Umno didn’t want Peja as MB, ” said Hamidin, who is with independent research firm Ilham Centre.
