Speaking the jingo lingo

In a country which has long prided itself on ‘unity in diversity’, politicians are vigorously fanning the flames of chauvinism and regionalism in Mumbai.

The Americans have gone and elected Barack Obama, a black of mixed parentage, as their next president. And in Mumbai, ostensibly India’s most cosmopolitan of cities, they are waging a war against fellow Indians, for the sake of the “sons of the soil”.
