LAST Tuesday, Sept 16, was ­supposed to be a day on which we celebrated all things Malaysian – but on that day, one of the most iconic symbols of the nation, the Malayan tiger, died.

Even as parades, speeches and waving flags marked the day that Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak came together 62 years ago to form the Federation of Malaysia, one of the few remaining Malayan tigers was found dead in a car boot in Johor.
