No, you can’t get a private island for RM50

A VIDEO of a private island near Langkawi being put up for sale for less than RM50 went viral barely a day after it was posted online – except it is not the whole island but only a part of the island, which is being sold for RM9mil in its entirety, Sinar Harian reported.

Known as Jemurok island in Ayer Hangat, a portion of the private island is now available at RM49.50 per sq ft.

“There are three private land lots on the island; only part of the island, measuring 1.695ha, is for sale.

“The owner intends to sell (this) part of the island,” real estate consultant Faizul Hakim Affendi told the daily.

The island, Faizul said, has Malay reserve land status and is located not far from the Mangrove Langkawi Geopark.

“As such, the journey from Jeti Kubang Badak to the island takes only five to seven minutes by boat,” he said.

Apparently, some people had misunderstood the advertisement as they had assumed that the entire private island was for sale at just RM49.50.

“Many of them were shocked. Some of them were in disbelief about the price tag. That is why the matter went viral,” he said.

> Bunkface vocalist Shamsul Annuar Mohd Baharom, better known as Sam, has opted not to share photos of his children online to prevent predators from abusing them, Kosmo! reported.

“I have peace knowing that my children are not exposed to any risks,” said the 37-year-old.

However, the father-of-two acknowledged that it is up to each parent as to how they would handle their children’s safety and privacy.
