Trump says willing to accept election results

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said he was "absolutely willing to accept" the election results, Xinhua reported, citing The New York Times (NYT) on Tuesday (Nov 3).

In an interview with two NYT reporters, Trump blamed Republicans' losses on the fact that he was not on the ballot, and said he was willing to work with Democrats.

US media has projected that Democrats had won control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the US midterm elections.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump acknowledged that the war in Iran played a role in Republicans' losses in Tuesday's midterm elections.

Earlier on Tuesday, when asked about the prospect of the Democratic Party taking control of Congress next year, Trump voiced his preparedness to veto Democratic legislation if necessary, US media reported.

Trump said he welcomed the moniker "Mr Veto" in an interview with CBS News before polls closed in the midterm elections across the country. "I have the ultimate power -- it's called 'veto,'" he said. – Bernama
