Belarusian president urges security forces to prepare for worst-case scenario

MINSK, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday urged all security and law-enforcement bodies to be ready for the worst-case scenario.

Speaking at a meeting to review the results of an inspection of the combat and mobilization readiness of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Belarusian leader stressed that state security agencies must operate professionally, confidently and swiftly.

Lukashenko said that, on his instructions, the State Secretariat of the Security Council and other agencies had been conducting large-scale inspections to ensure unity and cohesion across not only the Armed Forces but the entire state during difficult times.

The president said Belarus had already worked through possible scenarios and must remain prepared for potential aggressive actions by neighboring countries or launched from their territory, while avoiding actions that could be interpreted as aggression.
