Türkiye-Ukraine FTA takes effect

ANKARA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The free trade agreement (FTA) between Türkiye and Ukraine officially entered into force on Thursday, Türkiye's Ministry of Trade said.

According to a statement released by the ministry, customs duty arrangements for goods trade will begin to be implemented on January 1, 2027.

The agreement aims to support continued trade between the two countries under more predictable rules amid current conditions, and will provide a framework for maintaining preferential trade opportunities for Turkish and Ukrainian businesses, it said.

The two countries signed the FTA on February 3, 2022, with the goal of increasing bilateral trade to 10 billion U.S. dollars in the short term.
