3 killed in floods in Libya

TRIPOLI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Three members of one family died Wednesday after their car was submerged by floodwaters in Wadi Zagar in Libya's Black Mountains region, local media sources said.

The sources said the accident claimed the lives of a man, his wife and their daughter as they were passing through the area.

The Libyan National Meteorological Center warned in a statement Wednesday of unstable weather conditions affecting several parts of the country over the coming days. It said thunderstorms and heavy rainfall were expected in parts of southern, central and western Libya, potentially causing valleys to overflow and water levels to rise in low-lying areas.

The center issued an orange-level warning, urging citizens to exercise caution while traveling and avoid valleys and low-lying areas during rainfall.
