Two men arrested over suspected terrorist plot to target Manchester's Jewish community

LONDON, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Two men have been arrested over a "suspected terrorist plot" to target the Jewish community in Manchester, according to British media.

Counter-terrorism police said Tuesday that they had arrested two people under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 as part of an investigation into a suspected terrorist plot.

The two men, in their 30s, were arrested in central Manchester on Sunday and taken to a London police station where they remained in custody, the Metropolitan Police was quoted as saying.

The incident "will send a chill down the spine amongst Jewish communities in Greater Manchester," according to a joint statement from the mayor and deputy mayor of Greater Manchester on Tuesday.
