U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.21 percent to 100.43 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1465 dollars from 1.1483 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3369 dollars from 1.3391 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.45 Japanese yen, higher than 156.68 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8213 Swiss francs from 0.8221 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.4039 Canadian dollars from 1.3993 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.8398 Swedish kronor from 9.8333 Swedish kronor.
