NEW YORK, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.03 percent to 98.817 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1630 dollars from 1.1629 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3546 dollars from 1.3547 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 153.60 Japanese yen, lower than 153.61 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8103 Swiss francs from 0.8090 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3806 Canadian dollars from 1.3781 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 9.6009 Swedish Kronor from 9.5816 Swedish Kronor.
