NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.13 percent to 98.787 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro strengthened to 1.1629 dollars from 1.1624 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3547 dollars from 1.3542 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 153.61 Japanese yen, lower than 154.34 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.809 Swiss francs from 0.8095 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3781 Canadian dollars from 1.3815 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 9.5816 Swedish kronor from 9.5935 Swedish kronor.
