LUSAKA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry on Tuesday said China's industrial experience helps the country accelerate its development.
Everness Nankala, the ministry's principal public relations officer, said in a statement that a Zambian delegation is currently participating in a seminar on processing trade innovation and development held by China's Ministry of Commerce in Beijing.
"Participants are gaining practical insights into China's experience in processing trade zones, value chain development, industrial park management and trade facilitation," she said.
Nankala said exposure to China's experience in developing competitive processing industries will help Zambia formulate policies and programs to support local businesses and boost export earnings.
The seminar is equipping Zambia with innovative approaches to move from exporting raw materials, including copper and agricultural products, to processing and exporting finished goods, she said.
She said Zambia's participation reflects the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, with China remaining a major partner in trade, investment and technical cooperation.
The seminar also demonstrates China's continued support for Zambia's development through capacity building and knowledge sharing, she said, adding that the ministry will seek to translate lessons from the seminar into programs to strengthen Zambia's processing trade capacity, expand market access for local products and accelerate industrialization.
