NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 21.58 points, or 0.04 percent, to 53,770.27. The S&P 500 added 20.30 points, or 0.26 percent, to 7,748.5. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 143.042 points, or 0.54 percent, to 26,588.488.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with real estate and technology leading the gainers by adding 1.08 percent and 1.06 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer discretionary and materials led the laggards by going down 1.40 percent and 1.19 percent, respectively.
