U.S. stocks close lower


NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 60.95 points, or 0.11 percent, to 53,975.98. The S&P 500 sank 4.53 points, or 0.06 percent, to 7,753.11. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 85.258 points, or 0.32 percent, to 26,605.357.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and health leading the gainers by adding 4.63 percent and 1.68 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, real estate and utilities led the laggards by going down 1.23 percent and 1.11 percent, respectively.
