NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.27 percent to 99.809 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1542 dollars from 1.1564 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.3509 dollars from 1.3499 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.24 Japanese yen, higher than 157.55 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8101 Swiss francs from 0.8076 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3942 Canadian dollars from 1.3937 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.5016 Swedish kronor from 9.4701 Swedish kronor.
