HARARE, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe is scaling up its repatriation and reintegration assistance for citizens returning from South Africa, a minister said Tuesday.

Speaking at a post-cabinet media briefing, Zhemu Soda, minister of information, publicity and broadcasting services, said that a total of 99,418 Zimbabwean citizens were assisted to return home between May 28 and July 10 through collaborative efforts between the government and development partners.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Child Care and its partners are providing essential healthcare. Over 191,000 patients have been attended to, 870 children screened for malnutrition, and cases of diarrhea treated

Soda said the government appreciates the timely dispatch of essential relief items and welfare support to the returnees, which has greatly assisted the ongoing repatriation and reintegration initiatives.

Soda said the Border Management Committee, incorporating other agencies, has intensified measures to facilitate efficient immigration clearance of buses and trucks transporting the returnees.

"The government assures the nation that efforts to render assistance to returning nationals will continue in order to ensure their smooth reintegration," Soda said, adding that security services will continue to monitor and curb illegal entries at undesignated border points.
