U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.03 percent to 100.99 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1426 U.S. dollars from 1.1419 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3400 dollars from 1.3363 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 162.48 Japanese yen, higher than 161.94 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar remained stable at 0.8076 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.4169 Canadian dollars from 1.4195 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 9.6903 Swedish kronor from 9.6784 Swedish kronor.
