Nearly 94 pct of respondents rate Azerbaijani president's performance positively, poll finds

BAKU, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 93.6 percent of respondents positively assessed the performance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during the first half of 2026, according to the results of a public opinion survey released on Wednesday by Azerbaijan's Media Development Agency (MEDIA).

The survey also found that 87.7 percent of respondents expressed trust in the president, while 91.5 percent said they would vote for Aliyev if a presidential election were held next Sunday.

According to MEDIA, 81.9 percent of respondents viewed Aliyev as the country's only viable political leader for maintaining stability. The agency said this perception was shared across all socio-demographic groups surveyed and had strengthened compared with previous polling periods.

The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews from May 20-30 among 1,210 respondents aged 18 and above. The sample was designed to be nationally representative, with participants selected in proportion to official demographic data on gender, age, education level and economic regions.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
