U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.2 percent to 101.392 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1380 U.S. dollars from 1.1420 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3278 dollars from 1.3255 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 162.53 Japanese yen, lower than 162.62 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8092 Swiss francs from 0.8083 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.4216 Canadian dollars from 1.4204 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.7300 Swedish kronor from 9.7005 Swedish kronor.
