BELGRADE, June 18 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition demonstrating the ironclad friendship and fruitful cooperation between China and Serbia opened in the Serbian capital on Thursday.
The exhibition, known as "Let the Light of Ironclad Friendship Illuminate the Road of China-Serbia Cooperation -- A Photo Exhibition of the Friendship Between the Chinese and Serbian People," saw approximately 70 images on display covering various topics including head-of-state diplomacy, practical cooperation, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, recording warm moments of bilateral friendly exchanges and fruitful cooperation, and providing a panoramic, multi-layered view of the enduring and deepening traditional friendship between the two nations over more than 70 years.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Marina Ragus attended the opening ceremony.
In his address, Vucic expressed his admiration for China's remarkable achievements in recent years, underscoring that the two visits of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Serbia injected strong impetus into bilateral relations and Serbia's development.
Vucic said that the photo exhibition perfectly showcases the profound friendship and cooperation between the two nations, adding that the images help people understand history, look forward to the future, and learn about the development trends of the times.
In a video address at the opening ceremony, President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua noted that the two heads of state have consolidated mutual trust, and jointly guided the development of China-Serbia relations to leap forward and make historic achievements.
Fu said that Xinhua News Agency will take this photo exhibition as an opportunity to work closely with people from all walks of life in Serbia to further deepen cooperation, do a good job of telling the story of China-Serbia friendship, build bridges for mutual learning between civilizations, and make new and greater contributions to building the China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era.
Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming addressed that the China-Serbia friendship has continued to flourish in the new era. He emphasized that the two sides have worked together on Belt and Road flagship projects, such as the Hungary-Serbia Railway, the Smederevo Steel Plant, and the Zemun-Borca Bridge over the Danube, setting a new benchmark for bilateral cooperation.
The bilateral ironclad friendship is a common wealth to the two peoples and will be carried forward for generations, Li noted.
The exhibition is co-hosted by the Xinhua News Agency Europe Regional Bureau, the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, and China Photo Service Co., Ltd., and jointly organized by the Xinhua News Agency Belgrade Bureau and the Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade. More than 100 people, including representatives from Chinese and Serbian political and business communities and academics attended the opening ceremony.
