Equatorial Guinea government resigns

YAOUNDE, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Equatorial Guinea's Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue said Tuesday that Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua and the entire cabinet have resigned.

Obiang Mangue made the announcement in a statement on social media platform X. He said the government quit after achieving "barely 10 percent" of its goals.

"The rule is simple: public responsibility has to come with results," he said. "The state puts significant human, material and financial resources at the disposal of the government to address the needs of the population. So the degree of execution achieved is clearly insufficient in relation to the expectations and commitments undertaken."
