U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.24 percent to 99.09 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1631 dollars from 1.1604 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3442 dollars from 1.3397 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.84 Japanese yen, lower than 159.06 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.7868 Swiss francs from 0.7892 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3749 Canadian dollars from 1.3750 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 9.3324 Swedish kronor from 9.4055 Swedish kronor.
