South Korea, Japan agree to boost energy cooperation, strengthen security ties

SEOUL, May ⁠19 (Reuters) - South Korea ⁠and Japan agreed ‌to expand cooperation on LNG and crude oil ​supply, including on ⁠stockpiling and ⁠energy security, South Korean President ⁠Lee ‌Jae Myung said after ⁠bilateral talks in Andong ​on ‌Tuesday.

Lee and Japanese Prime ⁠Minister ​Sanae Takaichi also reaffirmed stronger security ⁠coordination, including trilateral cooperation ​with the United States, and pledged to ⁠advance their “shuttle diplomacy” aimed at deepening ties amid a rapidly ​changing security ⁠environment, Lee said ​in a ‌joint press statement.
