U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, May 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 370.26 points, or 0.75 percent, to 50,063.46. The S&P 500 added 56.99 points, or 0.77 percent, to 7,501.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 232.88 points, or 0.88 percent, to 26,635.22.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and energy leading the gainers by rising 1.85 percent and 0.77 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, materials and real estate led the laggards by dropping 0.8 percent and 0.59 percent, respectively.
