Ukraine says 12 killed in Russia's large-scale strike on Kiev

KIEV, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Thursday night that the death toll from a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital has increased to 12, with dozens more injured.

The attack early Thursday injured 57 people, 27 of whom were hospitalized, Klitschko added.

According to Ukraine's State Emergency Service, search and rescue operations were continuing.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on X that authorities were investigating the weapons used in the attack, adding that preliminary information indicated a residential building in Kiev was struck by a Kh-101 cruise missile.
