U.S. stocks close mixed


NEW YORK, May 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 67.36 points, or 0.14 percent, to 49,693.2. The S&P 500 added 43.29 points, or 0.58 percent, to 7,444.25. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 314.14 points, or 1.2 percent, to 26,402.34.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and technology leading the gainers by rising 2.65 percent and 0.98 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and financials led the laggards by dropping 1.26 percent and 1.07 percent, respectively.
