Rostec expects to begin MC-21 aircraft serial production in 2027


MOSCOW, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Russia expects to begin serial production of the MS-21 passenger aircraft in 2027, state-owned technology corporation Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov said Thursday.

Chemezov announced the timeline during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin press service.

Currently, one-third of the necessary certification flights for the medium-range MS-21 have been completed, and are expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2027, he said.

Looking ahead, Rostec aims to produce 36 MS-21 jets annually by 2030, Chemezov added.

Earlier reports said the first batch of 18 serially produced MS-21 aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2026-2027, with Russia's state-owned flagship carrier Aeroflot set to receive the planes.
