TEHRAN, May 5 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were injured in a massive fire that erupted on Tuesday at a shopping center some 30 kilometers west of Iran's capital Tehran, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported.
The blaze at the shopping center, named Arghavan Commercial Complex, was reported at 16:40 local time (1310 GMT), following which firefighting teams were immediately dispatched, ISNA quoted Ali Paidaran, head of the fire department of Andisheh city, where the fire broke out, as saying.
Paidaran added that the fire spread due to the composite materials used in the building's facade.
The ISNA cited Iran's Red Crescent Society as saying that seven operational rescue teams, along with search-and-rescue dogs, were at the scene of the incident, the cause of which has not been determined yet.
Esmaeil Farahani, deputy head of Tehran's emergency medical services organization, told the ISNA that out of the 10 people wounded in the incident, nine received medical care at the scene, and one was transferred to the hospital.
The official news agency IRNA quoted the head of the local Red Crescent Society as saying that some individuals might be trapped inside the shopping centers, and efforts are underway to save them.
