BEIRUT, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Hezbollah members were killed and two journalists stranded on Wednesday following Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon despite an ongoing ceasefire, according to Lebanese official, security, and media sources.
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that an Israeli strike targeted a vehicle in the southern town of al-Tiri, killing two people. A Lebanese security source confirmed to Xinhua that the victims were Hezbollah members.
In the same area, journalists Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj were stranded after Israeli forces reportedly prevented rescue teams from reaching them.
According to NNA and a widely circulated appeal by journalists on social media, an Israeli airstrike hit the main road linking al-Tiri and Haddatha, apparently to block ambulance access, while Israeli forces barred both the Lebanese Red Cross and the Lebanese army from reaching them.
Later in the day, rescue teams managed to reach al-Tiri and evacuate the Faraj.
The developments came despite a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that took effect April 16, following a U.S.-announced agreement aimed at halting weeks of escalating hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
Israeli and Lebanese officials held talks in Washington on April 14. A second round of discussions is scheduled for Thursday.
