U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.25 percent to 98.126 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.1795 U.S. dollars from 1.1728 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3567 dollars from 1.3477 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.74 Japanese yen, lower than 159.50 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.7810 Swiss francs from 0.7859 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3771 Canadian dollars from 1.3800 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.1810 Swedish kronor from 9.2013 Swedish kronor.
