Azerbaijan oil output falls, gas steady in Q1 2026

BAKU, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan produced 6.6 million tonnes of oil, including condensate, in the first quarter of 2026, down 4.3 percent year on year, while gas output remained steady at 12.6 billion cubic meters, the country's Ministry of Energy said Monday.

The bulk of oil production came from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, which contributed 3.9 million tonnes, down 2.5 percent from a year earlier. The Shah Deniz field saw condensate output fall 10 percent to 0.9 million tonnes, while the smaller Absheron field posted a sharper drop of 28.5 percent to 0.1 million tonnes. Production by state energy company SOCAR declined 5.5 percent to 1.7 million tonnes.

Gas output showed mixed trends at the field level. ACG increased gas production by 2.9 percent to 3.5 billion cubic meters, and Shah Deniz rose 1.5 percent to 6.9 billion cubic meters. Absheron output was unchanged at 0.4 billion cubic meters, while SOCAR's gas production dropped 10 percent to 1.8 billion cubic meters.
