ABUJA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday commissioned the new corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in the capital city of Abuja.
Constructed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the 16-storey building, located in the heart of the city, was described by the president as a symbol of the "fiscal rebirth" of the West African nation.
"We are not gathered here merely to commission a building; we are here to mark a milestone in a larger national journey, the deliberate strengthening of our physical foundation and rebuilding of confidence in public institutions," the Nigerian leader said at the ceremony.
Although the foundation of the project was laid over two decades ago and the project faced various delays during that period, Tinubu said his administration completed the building within 30 months.
Designed to accommodate over 3,000 employees, the ultra-modern complex, comprising three towers, also features, among others, a data processing center, a large auditorium and a library.
In his speech, Godswill Akpabio, president of the Nigerian Senate, expressed full confidence in the quality of CCECC's work, noting that its past projects have remained in good condition after many years of use, "reflecting excellent construction quality and long-term reliability."
