Azerbaijan extends special quarantine regime until July 2026


BAKU, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The government of Azerbaijan has extended its special quarantine regime until July 1, 2026, according to a decree signed by Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov on Monday.

The Cabinet of Ministers said the extension aims to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate potential health complications.

The special regime, which has been in place since March 2020, was previously set to expire on April 1, 2026.

Although the regime remains in effect, most COVID-19 restrictions introduced during the pandemic have been lifted. However, Azerbaijan's land borders remain closed to passenger traffic, with entry and exit primarily permitted by air.
